We are glad to see that our project really generated enthusiasm! To give just an example,
Anca read about "We stand by youTH" and she wanted to share to other young people her entrepreneurial experience.
"I've started my own business for several months now, after having
graduated the university, withdrawn from volunteer work in a nonprofit
organization, and completed the contract I had with a firm. I decided
to take a gap year and discover what I am
really good at.
What's the business about? - Fund raising for youth NGOs.
What's the motivation? - To test my enthusiasm on the long term and earn
some money while helping others earn
more money.
What are you experiencing? -
Rewards and challenges, with weekly deadlines to meet, that usually
create significant pressure. It tests my commitment, and patience as
results aren't visible on the spot. It helps me define a clearer
picture of myself, my abilities and capabilities.
From my perspective, youngsters should be
encouraged to take one year off to discover themselves (through traveling, working, teaching etc.), before pursuing a master degree.
It's perfectly normal to do so.
In
Romania, young people don't lack opportunities, but rather aren't
self-confident and "risky" enough to take advantage of the existing
opportunities.
Some of the challenges I encounter are related to youth NGOs' not
knowing about the services I provide, and also to the fact that I have
worked for free if projects don't receive funding.
I support and cheer all initiatives aimed at
empowering young people to get actively involved, because eventually
it's our lives we are talking about."
