Developing a new SG program that helps young people to put into practice their start up ideas, by creating teams of SG employees that will work with the young entrepreneurs in the launching phase of these new businesses.

First of all, the  idea on which our project is based starts from a simple and realistic insight: a lot of young people (you may be one of them) have brilliant business ideas. Unfortunately, many of these ideas never get the chance to be put into practice due to various causes:

•    lack of support
•    little experience
•    insufficient financial resources to start the business
•    the absence of a professional team to share the entrepreneur’s vision.

Secondly, another important insight that we have taken into consideration while developing our project is the fact that a good team is a crucial element for the growth of a start-up. But good employees value a lot, and very often the young managers have neither the necessary money to attract them nor the intuition to recruit the most appropriate ones. Therefore, without the support of a professional team a new business can be very close to collapse soon after it started, because of:

•    lack of professional working capital
•    a poorly conceived business model
•    a poorly constructed business plan

Our solution to these problems can be found in the project ,,We stand by youth”, which proposes an active and participative cooperation between SG and the young entrepreneurs -  some of SG’s employees will work together with the young entrepreneurs, few hours a week, for the recently born business.
In this way we make sure that:

• The employees can work as a team (as they already know each other) from the very beginning.
• The employees have proper proficiency.
•The employees will help the young entrepreneur create a healthy and realistic vision of his business.

All these combined raise the chance for the new business to be successful.

With your help, we can turn ,, We stand by youth” project into reality. In the next 3 weeks we invite you to follow our efforts in finding the most appropriate approach to these issues. We will research the current studies on this matter but we are also very interested in your opinions and experiences, as with your help our project can become stronger and more realistic.

Great concept!

Progress works best if it addresses young people, because they both understand and support it more eagerly. Ideas need to be supported to come to reality, and Societe Generale is just one such company that has both the means and the drive to sustain young promising businesses.

It's a kind of meta-context that you're creating and I think it's the kind of idea that appeals to SG for its young target.

Keep up the good work!

Girls, you can add my support too, eventhough at an emotional level. Coming from a family that valued the business career more than the institutional one, I had for many years in mind the idea that I want the opposite. Well, now I'm decided yet. Your project contributed to my "coming back to originis" moment, and this idea of business is coming from behind again. And, if after reading your presentation, someone starts asking him/herself "What if..." (in a situation like mine), I think you've got something to fight for, in the most constructive way. All the good luck needed be with you, and let's see this idea growing!

Congratulations for reaching this point, and keep up like this!

:)

I must congratulate Team Colorama for their noble initiative and also acknowledge the importance of your project in the socio-economic context in Romania today.

I strongly believe that entrepreneurship is perhaps the most powerful tool the economy has in order not only to develop in a classical manner, but also bring much more for all the stakeholders involved: passion, drive and satisfaction for the entrepreneurs, cohesion, openness, enthusiasm for the employees and hapiness for the end users.

However, I consider that there are some points that you should maybe try to work more on, such as:

- the fact that the help provided by some employees of SG is not clearly defined, especially when thinking from their perspective (if I were SG, I would like to know what exactly my employees will be doing at the designated meetings so that I would not only know who'd be better suited for the job but also to understand the depth of their aid and the amount of time they will be spending on this);

-the first point was my major concern, this part is more of a suggestion: I think it would be better to try to emphasize more the impact the project would have upon the society and how exactly entrepreneurship itself is such a good choice and the fact that unfortunately, there are many barriers for the people choosing this road.

All in all I consider this project a good one and I hope I wasn't too bossy with my pieces of advice. Anyway I only want what's best for us all.

Congrats again and good luck!

Hello everyone,

I am following the whole project for at least one week and from the very beginning the idea seemed to me to have a very good perspective in Romania.
Meanwhile I am preparing my business plan for one start-up business project which i would like to start from this summer so this idea of having some staff from SG helping me with some various aspects of the business which i am not familiar sounds great for me .
From my personal point of view this kind of help a bank could offer to the youth people will be a very good investment for the bank considering image and people perception of the bank .
Why should i work with another bank if SG is helping me to develop my business ? Why not to advertise their services and corporate solutions when i am taking advantage of their experience and expertise ?

I hope this project will be implemented even if for a short period of time because i am convinced it will be a great success that will convince everyone from SG to develop and maintain this kind of projects which are one of the best forms of promotion a company could think of.

Dear all,

Thanks a lot for your support and your valuable feedback. We'll thake all these remarks into consideration for the final version of our project.

@ Petra> You made a very good point there when talking about employees' motivation to take part in the project. First of all, we made a very good internal communication campaign followed by a selection process. Thus the employees that will take part in the project will be selected according to some standards...willingness to involve in the project, experience etc will be taken into consideration...of course the selecton will be made by some HR specialists. Moreover, let's not forget that some motivation theories state that when you give your employees more attention they will generally start working harder anb be more productive. Furthermore, the business ideas on which the employees will work on will be selected according to certain criteria and they will be part of the selection team. So, we do hope that there will be no bad ideas financed through this CSR.And let's not forget SG statement in realtion to their CSR strategy> to involve their employees in it and to make them promote it.

As a future "wannabe businesswoman" I say congrats for such an initiative. Very nice presentation as well. I hope you win and that the project is actually put into action. Good luck !

A truly inspiring idea, that should boost young entrepreneurs' projects into success :)
Thanks for implementing such a wonderful idea!

I wish you the best of luck with your brave project! There are so many business ideas that have the potential of changing the world for the better, but just ideas are not enough. What your project brings is a strong backup for the freshness that today's young generation has. Combining ideas with experience and aiding these ideas to grow wings deserves all the support! Great job, girls! Keep on colouring the world with your initiatives!

I think your project not only solves a problem in our local romanian market, but also foresees the opportunities that come along with an investment in this start-up business plan. I believe in it and I'm sure it will resolve real problems for great results in return.

Good financial advice is critical at every stage of a business, not just the start up, but you are right, by stating, that most entrepreneurs and companies in general are loyal to their starting bank - as long as they get proper services.

I must admit I am a bit sceptical, because your project means that before a real help ca be provided to the wannabe entrepreneurs, SG must invest in training and giving proper incentives to their own staff, to create the necessary motivation and enthuziasm, in order for them to be actively support the new ideas.

Let's be honest, not all business ideas are good, just because they are born - everyone has ideas - so these advisors from SG will probably have to be equipped with tons of patience and to be enthusiastic about the end-goal: helping at least 2-3 of 100 to successfully start a business. This means commitment - lots of it. At the current stage of economy and thinking of all the bank employees I have had the chance to encounter so far... I see the weakpoint of your project in this.

The idea itself of your project is really good, I will support it (also as a a wannabe entrepreneur myself ;) ) - but please also think about this aspect of your project: how to create incentives for SG employees for them to WANT to help the young entrepreneurs, and not give up after the first 20-30 bad ideas.

Good luck with your project, I hope you do get SG at least considering this on the long term.

Petra

Allez Colorama, allez! ;)

Here is another support for young entrepreneurs. This is a really good chance for those who know how to use it.

Lots of luck!

55 Posted by: Florin Andrei, 03/11 21:32
Is a good ideea. This way the young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to gain a plus of know how from the professionals in the early stage of the project.
Hope you will have the chance to put the project in practice!

54 Posted by: Nic, 03/11 18:12
If Groupe Societe Generale will not be willing to invest in your idea, I am sure that there are a lot innovation oriented minds that would be seduced by it.

so don't stop trusting your idea!
Best for Romania!

53 Posted by: Raluca Buzea, 03/11 16:16
Of course, Teapot! The idea is that even if you open a gallery, you still need to work on the marketing aspects (which is the market you want to enter, who are your possible clients, what marketing strategy is suitable for you, etc), you definitely need to sell (so you need someone who would create your sales strategy) and you surely need accounting. So it's not about developing businesses in the "financial/banking/economy/accounting" field, but about providing know-how in the domains mentioned, ones that are vital for every kind of business.

52 Posted by: Teapot, 03/11 16:02
This is indeed quite a good point you're making, girls. But look, I have a problem: what if I'm willing to start my own business, but that does not relate in any way to the financial/banking/economy/accounting system, but rather the artistic field. Let's say I'd like to open a gallery.Would SG support that kind of an initiative?

51 Posted by: Horia, 03/11 13:47
A project like these gives me more courage to pursue my dream in starting my own business someday.
Keep up the good work girls!

I think it's necessary to exist engines that promotes youth. In Romania this is an important problem and because you've seen it, it's a big step for the generations that will come face to face with a system whose wishes it's not to integrate but to denigrate.

Some ideas that I have and may help you:

-A different kind of contests between an employee of a company and a young people.

-Modern entities that offers all the social campaigns, payed by the state, to youth's mind, of course under the supervising of a specialist.

-More and more organizations to promote your ideas. :)

I'm looking forward to see this project implemented. Good luck, girls!

I think creativity is one of the most important aspects that young entrepreneurs have. That and enthusiasm!

Perhaps it's often useful to have someone more experience by your side, for the occasional dose of realism :)

Good job with the project, I hope you achieve your objectives!

I've always dreamed of having my own bookshop but everyone keeps telling me how hard it is to start a small business as a young student. You have to work and gain the money... and keep it...and so on...

Reading this made me think I'm just one small step away from my dream. It's so simple and clear and you managed to expose all the problems us young people face. Good job!

I'm so glad to hear such a great idea for young people in Romania.Looking forward to see the nice outcome of your project!!!

19 Posted by: Raluca Buzea, 03/03 15:04
Sabina, as we said in the Benefits section, we see many advantages for SG:
1. An healthier and wealthier economical environment > people will have more money to invest in banks
2. Loyal clients- if SG helped me start my business, it's quite sure it will be my bank from now on
3. SG will be seen as the bank of the future (which is exactly the key point in the brief we had to solve) as it invests in youth and youth represent the future
4. A social responsible company means not only social responsible top management, but also employees who are deeply into their companie's CSR policy. Through this program, SG will obtain more commitment in CSR issues from its employees. In other words, employees will become real ambassadord for the bank's CSR policy.

We hope it's more clear now.

18 Posted by: Vlad, 03/03 14:37
I think that many very good ideas don't succeed mainly because of lack of experience, and a consultant team could give precious added value for the start of the business.

I work in the CSR field and I could say that this program is a very good one for every company interested in sustainable development, especially for a company like SG. By this project, SG invest in the market and will gain valuable parteners for the future.

And as a "wanna be entrepreneur" I could say that I would definitely apply for this program and I would really appreciate to receive support and feedback from a experienced SG team.

Brilliant idea! You are clearly the best team from Citizen Act. ;)
Good Luck!

Very interesting project. I'm proud that Romania can produce such bright ideas. Good luck in the competition and bring the "medals" at home!

16 Posted by: Lili, 03/03 12:20
It`s pretty cool to have the chance to learn how to start your own business without paying a specialized company to show you that. Besides that, it`s a great chance to develop your own networking that might help you find a lot of opportunities to finance your business, after the SG training experience ends. Maybe I will apply for it, also. Good luck with the project. Raluca, keep me posted! :)

15 Posted by: Andra, 03/03 12:14
I like this one! Especially now due to financial crisis when everybody's is afraid to do something on their own. It would be a great deal if this came true.

Hi girls, that seems like a good initiative but it's not really clear to me how will SG benefit from it.

Sounds really great. Looking forward to see the outcome.

12 Posted by: Carlos, 03/03 10:46
That its a fantastic idea, young people needs help and credits of banks, But it is important that really they support the businessman and advise and help, not that they should take advantage of the ideas of the young people to put financial credits with a high interest.
